The Apostle Paul gave us some sobering thoughts concerning the last days. In II Timothy 3:12-13 he said, "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived." (KJV) Sadly, I believe that we are seeing this take place in this very generation. However, those who truly love God have always been the object of ridicule, mockery, false accusations, and at times threats against their very lives. In this book we read the story of three men who knew their God, and would not let anything sway them from their faith - even the possibility of losing their lives. We also see the miraculous power of God, and an incredible but simple truth: in one way or another God will always stand for those who stand for Him. We are in a society that desperately needs to see the power of God in the lives of His people. For that to happen, we need to become a generation of believers who are so committed to Jesus Christ that nothing - absolutely nothing - will cause us to abandon our faith. We will indeed face the fires of adversity, and true followers of Jesus must be willing to say, "My God is able to deliver me, but if not, I will still believe in Him!" I believe that those with that kind of unshakable faith will see His power in action. The good news is that those who are lost in sin and desperately need to see that there is power in the name of Jesus will see His power as well. May God raise up a generation of "Fire Walkers" who will face their fiery furnace with bold confidence in Christ!
