Instead of merely existing, BRB members dedicate themselves to protecting and rehabilitating people in abusive situations, forging a powerful found family in the process.

The novel introduces Sadie, who grew up in foster care, always feeling out of place and facing constant loss and hardship. When Sadie marries, she hopes for stability, but her husband’s transformation into an abuser forces her to flee for her life. It’s during this desperate escape that Micah intervenes, offering not just protection but a chance at true belonging.

The chemistry between Micah and Sadie is immediate and intense, yet the relationship is far from simple. Micah’s own struggles—particularly with PTSD—are sensitively explored, adding depth to his character as an alpha male protector.
