Acerca de esta escucha
Autumn has a good hold on Broadway...and the street gives in, stops fighting it...the fashion has changed...because night is colder...night is longer....
For Detective Danny Clover, Broadway is more than just a street - it’s a living, breathing creature with a mood and a style all its own. Radio’s most lyrical crime drama comes to life in this collection, Broadway’s My Beat, featuring 16 unique tales of murder along the main stem.
The series’ purple prose is counterbalanced by the gritty realism that was a specialty of the 16th Precinct and its endearingly eccentric characters. Larry Thor stars as Clover, with Charles Calvert as Sgt. Tartaglia and Jack Kruschen as Detective Muggavan. The voices of the violent and their victims are provided by Betty Lou Gerson, Sheldon Leonard, Paula Winslowe, Howard McNear, Paul Frees, Larry Dobkin, Cathy Lewis, and more.
Episodes Include: The Mary Trevor Murder Case 10-25-52; The Amelia Lane Murder Case 11-01-52; The Grace Cullen Murder Case 11-22-52; The Johnny Clark Murder Case 11-29-52; The Artie Blanchard Case 02-14-53; Laugh-a-Minute Tyler 03-14-53; The Ted Lawrence Murder Case 07-18-53; The Stacy Parker Murder Case 07-25-53; The Hilda Bruce Murder Case 08-08-53; The Mrs. Webb Murder Case 08-15-53; The Paul Tracy Murder Case 09-26-53; The Harriet Temple Murder Case 10-07-53; The Donald Jordan Murder Case 11-13-53; The Lou Martin Murder Case 11-20-53; The Katy Lane Murder Case 07-25-54; The Floyd Decker Murder Case 08-01-54.

It's the brightest street in the world - and the darkest. It all depends on your point of view. Just ask Detective Danny Clover, who's seen it all. Larry Thor stars as the world-weary Times Square homicide investigator who is still sentimental about the street in these 16 atmospheric radio adventures! Clover stalks justice through the glitz and through the gutter, undaunted by wrong turns, obstructions, or traps. At least Sgt. Tartaglia (Charles Calvert) and Sgt. Muggavan (Jack Kruschen) are on his side.

Historia
NYPD detective Danny Clover, poignantly portrayed by Larry Thor, patrols The Great White Way. With each block he bears witness to regret and redemption, to desperation and debauchery, to wealth and want. Each leaves its mark on this poetic policeman. At Clover’s side, and covering his back, are Sgt. Tartaglia (Charles Calvert) and Sgt. Muggavan (Jack Kruschen). The unhappy endings of hard luck stories drive Danny to search for justice - pounding the pavement to track down an eye witness, find that one scrap of evidence, or just to walk until it all makes sense.

If you got the idea that Pat Novak was a rather single-minded fellow, you'd be wrong. He appreciated liquor every bit as much as he appreciated women. He could be found most nights popping shots and wisecracks with his saloon-owner pal, Jocko Madigan (Tudor Owen). But, most of all, he appreciated the crisp greenness of a new 50-dollar bill. Operating out of the grim San Francisco waterfront, Novak didn't have much use for anyone and didn't much care who knew it.

Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar takes a turn towards the hardboiled as film-noir favorite Edmond O'Brien takes over the role of America's Fabulous Freelance Insurance Investigator. His gritty, driven performance is well worth rediscovering. O'Brien's harder, more cynical Dollar brought him harder and more cynical clients…and adversaries. In this collection of original radio episodes from 1950-52, Johnny finds more than his quota of murder, mystery, and malfeasance.

No bigger fad swept across postwar radio than that of the hard-boiled private detective - and nobody had more fun with their wink-and-nudge take on the genre than the producers, writers, and cast of The Adventures of Sam Spade. Dashiell Hammett's legendary private eye had a sardonic sense of humor, which wavy-haired, rugged-voiced Howard Duff played to perfection.

The pen is mightier than the sword, but is it mightier than the .45? That's the dilemma faced by hard-nosed crime reporter Randy Stone each week in one of radio's most memorable newspaper dramas: Night Beat. While guns blaze and thugs prowl the back alleys of Stone's Chicago, the solving crimes is almost incidental to the unraveling of compelling human problems. Frank Lovejoy stars as the enterprising Chicago newspaperman, whose stories focus not on the essential corruption of humanity, but on its basic decency.

If there's one lesson to be learned from science-fiction, it's that nothing lasts forever. From human lives to vast civilizations, the overarching theme of the genre is that the old will give way to the new. Look to futures past with X Minus One! One of the most imaginative series of the 1950s brings you to adventures in worlds beyond fear, beyond imagination, beyond the farthest stars. Works by the leading genre authors of the day (including Philip K. Dick, Robert Sheckley, and Clifford Simak) were turned into tight, well-acted half-hour dramatizations.

Historia
Broadway Is My Beat was a dark, gritty radio crime drama that ran on CBS from 1949 until 1954. The series was originally broadcast from New York with Anthony Ross portraying Times Square Police Detective Danny Clover. Produced by Lester Gottlieb, it was directed by John Dietz. By the thirteenth episode, the series moved to Hollywood (still set in NYC) with producer Elliott Lewis directing a new cast with scripts by Morton Fine and David Friedkin (the duo that would later write and develop TV’s popular secret-agent series I Spy).

Historia
When Howard Duff, radio’s regular Sam Spade, was dropped from the show, Steven Dunne donned the trench coat. Finding his own brash and boyish style with the role, Dunne’s Spade was much like creator Dashiell Hammett himself - a grown-up teenager who loved a put-on, but could be depended on to be loyal and true despite his own troubles. In these digitally remastered capers, Hammett’s hard-boiled hero delves in to the domains of daytime serials, journalism, the waterfront, and international intrigue.
