Three women - Lottie, Esme and Avril left their homes in the East to travel to Oregon as mail order brides to meet intended husbands waiting for them in Oregon City.
Lottie sold up her childhood home and thriving business in Huntsville, Missouri; Avril ran away from Mobile, Missouri escaping from her abusive father; and Esme made the life-changing decision on her own, leaving Richmond, Virginia with her parents’ blessing.
Looking for a new chapter in their lives full of opportunity and hope, their stories are interwoven with their individual experiences throughout their journeys.
It was April1849 when their wagon train pulled out of Independence, Missouri headed towards Oregon, the territory heralded as the new promised land. But first the three women had to endure nearly 6 months of wagon train travel on the Oregon Trail, along with the trials and tribulations, adventures and tragedies on the 2000-mile journey. Meeting Sera and Colette who were traveling on another wagon train on the Trail, instigated friendships to last the test of time.
Reaching Oregon City bought its own complex problems. Rescue coming from unexpected paths also bought life changing prospects they both thought lost forever.
