Traveling for plastic surgery and cosmetic dentistry has increased in volume year after year for over a decade. We see the trend and we think it’s going in the wrong direction. The allure of traveling to a foreign, exotic land to seek out the world’s foremost expert in the world’s foremost field of study has an element of seductiveness. In reality, it’s quite the opposite. The bulk of the population that seeks dental or medical work outside of the U.S. are doing so in search of a deal … not better treatment or higher quality care … only a cheaper price. The would-be savings hunters may disguise that key part of the conversation in various ways, but it is only to dress up the reality that they are going because it is cheaper.
