Resumen del Editor

It's the late 1960's in Keeneston and life is very tense for everyone. War consumes the news and young men prepare themselves for the draft. Jake Davies is fresh out of high school and head-over-heels in love. He’s known she's the one since she hit him in the head with a cheese ball, but then his world crashes around him when his number is drawn in the draft.

Marcy Faulkner's home life has caused her a lot of grief. Her sheltered life is quickly turned upside down after a night in a jail cell with the very handsome Jake Davies. The spark is immediate and undeniable. Everything is perfect until one fateful night. Marcy stands by watching as Jake is delivered the news about the draft and knows this could make or break their entire lives together.

With Jake's deployment looming and Marcy's parents being unsupportive, the young couple must fight to be together. Will their strong love endure the trials of war or will the enormous stress of the situation be too much for them to bear.

i have absolutely loved EVERY book in the bluegrass universe so far. The author knows how to make sexy moments without over sharing.

Never disappointed

So grateful that Kathleen Books donated books to the escape series and did audiobooks as I can’t read much these days and couldn’t afford the whole series and would be tortured to wait to read each book. I love her gifted writing, humor and many excellent role models and importance and beauty of weaving in the value and gifts of community and the Rose sisters. What a gift you have in your writing. Thank you for all you do, remain true to your gifts and joys. ❤️❤️❤️😇

Fantastic!

The Bluegrass books by Kathleen Brooks are definitely some of my all-time favorites! Bluegrass Dawn is no exception. Ms. Brooks takes us back to when Jake and Marcie are teenagers and it was such a pleasure to hear their story, which included all of my favorite characters from previous books I have read, only they are much younger!
The narrator did a wonderful job of switching between characters, both male and female, which is often my least favorite part of audiobooks.
I can't wait to listen to more from this author and narrator!

Marcy and Jake’s Story

Marcy Faulkner’s family gave her no support. Jake Davies was the boy who got her heart. They would have to fight to stay together with the war in Vietnam and high school graduation looming. Marvelous story and author. Great performance. Recommend.

Love this series - Love the characters

Jake and Marcy's had a beautiful love story. I laughed out loud, was appalled at the treatment of Marcy's family and happy that she found her way with Jake.

I have listened to all of the other books in this series. I fell in love with the characters.

Kathleen Brooks and Eric G Dove didn't disappoint!

If you enjoyed the books in this series you will definitely like this one. If you haven't had the opportunity to read this series - this novella may spark your interest.

Bluegrass... love all of her books and audible versions with Eric G. Dove as narrator. They make me feel like I've come home.

I lived through the Viet Nam war time and it was just as her book/audible version states...it was horrible. This story softened it with the love and honor and commitment shown by all.

Short But Sweet

Wish this could have been longer but was good anyway. Love the little town of Keeneston and all of the character's. This was the beginning of what became the Davies family. Jake and Marcy are such wonderful parent's in the other book's that it is neat to hear their story. Wish I could have jerked Marcy's mother bald headed. In fact her whole family were nitwit's. But as in most cases she became stronger. Even ended being a better person and parent than they ever thought of being. I am chomping at the bit waiting for your women of power series to be put on audible.com Ms. Brooks! Do hope Eric G. Dove narrates them also.

So nice to get Jake & Marcy's story. I loved the story. Getting more background on the people already featured in the series was great.

The devil is in the details...

I’ve now read all of the bluegrass books. All. Of. Them. The timeline is all over the place. It drives me bonkers! I love the storyline. I love the characters. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the family in the shadow series and I’m looking forward to the rest of the bluegrass family and thank god for a big family and more branches to shake.
