Amazing story and world building PLEASE give this one a read or listen!

First, I have to admit, initially at the beginning, I felt some parts were cheesy. Some stuff is overcooked, like Fat Pockets dialogue but he sticks with you long after the story is over. You think about him often🤣🤣. He is hilarious!! Another reviewer on Amazon, called the piece too ghetto. That almost deterred me from getting the book.

I love Westerns, and because this wasn't 100% that, where the dialogue was way too modern (today) and well, kinda ghetto, (I see what she meant) I almost stopped listening...BUT!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD! If you KEEP listening (I did audio), it quickly hooks you. So that reviewer is missing out. So happy, I kept listening. My household got hooked and wants to see it as a movie. Me too!! I listened while working, driving, cooking, before bed...it's freaking good!! If you pay attention, you know who these cultures/nations of characters are in our real life.This is a very real fight TODAY!!!

You will be hooked! Very intriguing, heart racing, just darn good! The ONLY critiques I have is lose whoever does the women voices (horrible, can't act, no sex appeal. sounds too old for some of the characters) and some sounds are too loud that you can barely hear the dialogue. Alkada, being that dude, should have a more suave tone of voice in my opinion. The audio isn't just an audiobook. It's like those podcasts that has actors with sound effects. A production, if you will. I can't wait to start the next one to see what happens. I am hooked!!!!!

Gritty dystopian

This book is raw and gritty. It reminded me of the Wild, Wild West movie- the one with Will Smith- blending the old west with the modern. It is definitely not for the faint hearted. Enemies to allies. Gangs and gore. Multiple setting with multiple main characters. Very dystopian. Westerns aren’t my usual read, but I liked it!

I felt like I was listening to a movie!!!

I love how well thought out the characters were the entire book felt like a movie. This is a must read/listen. The store was great!

Immerse read this one

I have not read a book like this before. This fits into multiple genres, such as urban western, dark fantasy and thriller. I’ll try my best to review this, but there is really no proper way to explain this that will do justice. Please bear with me. First, let’s get this out of the way. Check your triggers because this book has them all.

So let me set the scene. This is a dystopian world where Marshall Stryfe, Commander of The Republic, runs an oppressive regime. He is fighting for total control. It reads like the 1800s Wild West, but they talk in modern slang and smoke Kush (good azz weed).

Baron Black and his son, Captain BB have their own soldiers and are fighting against The Republic. They want to unite all the local gangs so they can be stronger. The problem is that the local gangs have beef with each other.

First there’s NoLove. He is the leader of a small gang called Da Mobb. While Da Mobb is out doing Mob things (robbing and killing), they end up killing a member of the Shyne gang. The Shynes are run by a very dangerous guy named Alkada. And of course, he wants revenge.

The police are trying to get justice, but they’re being run by a corrupt mayor/pimp named Fat Pockets.

There are also several other things going on, including a separate war amongst the gods.

If you enjoyed the Netflix movie “The Harder They Fall” starring Idris Elba, you may love this. Just add a mixture of the movie Menace to Society and the TV show Game of Thrones.

You should go into this book knowing that you will need to take notes early on. You will need to identify who is who, and to whom he/she belongs. I wish the author had included a character tree. I filled the first quarter of my book with transparent sticky notes. There are a few heavy scenes that will make the average person pause and put the book down. These scenes include r*** and the murder of an infant. Yes, really heavy stuff.

But once you get past that, the book flows well and is written well. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Picking up book two immediately.

I can’t wait to see the battles between HardBody and TwoFace, Alkada and NoLove, and Fat Pockets and Captain BB. I also have a feeling that Alkada’s daughter (Nefertiti) will be trouble. And hopefully, we'll find out what happened in the Death Sagas. Let’s go!

Confusing

Story didn’t hold my attention. A mixture of slang phases from different eras. Wasn’t sure in what time frame or where the story is taking place . Forced myself to finish the book .
