Resumen del Editor

Terry Clark grew up surrounded by his parent’s life’s work, the rescue and rehabilitation of cetaceans. Born just after first contact with the Galactic Union, he’s never known a time when aliens weren’t visiting Earth. At 10 years old, he had a normal life, until a visit from one of the aliens resulted in a ground-breaking discovery. The cetaceans have a developed and complex language...and it can be deciphered by the aliens’ translators.

When Terry’s father begins using alien implant technology to test the boundaries of the cetaceans’ language and society, though, he goes too far, and the fledgling world government becomes involved. Without warning, the scientists are labeled as criminals, and the cetaceans are scheduled for termination. In order to save the cetaceans, the researchers have to flee off-world with them.

In the Lupasha star system, Terry tries to begin a new life. While the world is ideal for the cetaceans, it’s difficult for their Human wardens. Even worse, the planet’s previous owners now want it back. As they don’t mind killing all the Humans in the process, Terry is trapped in a life or death struggle, which leads to a discovery that could change the course of humanity’s role in the galaxy.

Welcome to the Frontiers series, the first young adult collection set in the wildly popular Four Horsemen Universe.

Coming of Age in the Four Horsemen Universe

Being a fan of the "regular" Four Horsemen Universe books, I was kinda skeptical about a "Young Adult" but the author nailed it. Despite being in my 50s, I was able to recall my tween / early teens and still relate to the protagonist and his peers. I'm looking forward to the others in the "Young Adult" portion of the 4HU.

Interesting Concept

At first, I really enjoyed this book, but once really traumatic events were occurring to a very young boy, I lost my enthusiasm. I was compelled to finish the book, that’s a positive testimony to the writing, but I would only recommend it to … well, only to diehard Sci Fi enthusiasts. And only then because Mark Wandrey is good at the craft of writing.
MacLeod is a brilliant narrator. Throughout the read, I wondered what he thought of what he was reading. At one point, he was speaking in a cute surfer voice, then he had to describe a victim getting their two feet and a hand chopped off by crabs. Maybe I’m too old to appreciate the juxtaposition?
This grandma doesn’t want to read about children suffering in any context, even if things turn out…can’t give that up.

Less YA and more of a 4HU book from a kids POV

great read and listen and can't wait for the next in series to see where they link into series given the point in which it happens on the time line.

A good book

It is a good book for young adults and children not for adults. It is written from a child 's perspective.

Good Book

This book was good but more for teens/ young adults. It was well written and entertained me but it is told mostly from a 10-14 year old perspective. With that said, I still enjoyed it would recommend it to anyone looking for an uncomplicated sciFi book with talking dolphins and orcas :)

Love the story!

Listen to Audiobooks during my daily commute, and this one I've listened to 3 times in short order. Hoping we will hear more from Terry and Cetations!

good book

good book. mark Wandrey is a great writer. my only problem is the high pitched voices used for some of the characters and the cetaceans.

a great coming of age novel set in the 4 horseman universe.

pervy

I love the other books in the universe and the story in this one largely is of the same caliber. the issue is in that this book is an attempt at a coming of age novel. except this one focuses on prepubescent genitals way too much. I am not sure who the market for these scenes are. I would not let my kids listen to this and as an adult i surely dont want to here about some fictional 12 year olds erection.
