"My name - Jose Jimenez." For more than a decade, fans of The Steve Allen Show and other variety programs enjoyed Bill Dana's performance as the slightly befuddled but always amusing Hispanic American Jose Jimenez. This collection includes many of Jimenez's most memorable appearances, as solider, sailor, surfer, spy, submarine commander, and most famously, astronaut. (Dana was made an honorary Mercury astronaut for this role.) His comedic timing, word play, and ever-present faux-confusion make the routines great, even if poking fun at a none-too-bright Hispanic person now seems a little offensive.
