The essays in this book reflect my long-held concerns about biblical interpretation – how we read texts through the lens of community. The first three chapters deal with community and interpretation. Chapter 1 shows the necessity of community interpretation. Chapter 2 lays the ground for the community by presenting a perspective of marginal reading. Chapter 3 traces back to the origin of individualism. Chapter 4 deals with sociopolitical questions in the Hebrew Bible.
