One week. Thirty-six campers. Countless memories. And a love that stands the test of time.
When Joshua and Colin sign on to lead Camp Pride—a week-long retreat for LGBTQ+ boys—they expect outdoor adventures, group bonding, and maybe even a little baseball. What they don’t expect is the powerful impact their presence will have on the campers… or how much the experience will change them in return.
Between late-night campfires, heartfelt confessions, and one unexpected crisis, Colin and Joshua are reminded that love isn’t just about the moments of passion—it’s about showing up, every single day, for the people who need you most. With their closest friends by their side and a group of kids looking up to them, they must navigate challenges, laughter, and even a few late-night sneaky escapes.
But when ghosts of their pasts emerge and old fears test their resolve, will Colin and Joshua’s love be strong enough to weather the storm?
Beyond the Rainbow is a heartwarming, sexy, and deeply emotional journey of love, resilience, and the power of chosen family. If you love tender romance, quick wit, and the magic of making a difference, you won’t want to miss this unforgettable story!

This was read from 3rd person perspective. I usually only read/listen to 1st person, but the way this was written felt almost like a mix between the two. If that even makes sense, lol. I think the only thing that I miss out on in this perspective is getting the main characters personal thoughts, which is why I usually stick to 1st person. As I said before though, this was really well written and I felt like the characters spoke and displayed their emotions enough that you really don’t miss the inner thoughts for the majority of the story.
I love how good both Joshua and Colin are with all the kids, especially Alex. I felt a little bad for Aaron after what happened because of the thing that he shouldn’t have said to Alex, because he did feel incredibly guilty over it.
I really liked the narrator. This is the first book I’ve listened to from him before. There were a few times where I wish he was a little more… exaggerated in his tone of voice I guess would be the closest way to put it. But his voice overall was great.
Overall, this was a really good story though. The story itself is definitely off from my typical reading preferences, but I really enjoyed it.
I’m going to end my review off with a spoiler, so if you don’t want any spoilers, you can leave off here and don’t read what’s in my yellow caution marks at the bottom.

Spoiler time *** ⚠️ Ok, I dead thought for SURE that Josh and Colin were going to adopt Alex!!! Seriously thought that was where the story was headed and was honestly disappointed and incredibly shocked that they didn’t. I was seriously like “WHAT” on repeat, lol. I totally understand their reasoning for why they didn’t want to though, and I appreciate the fact that they know themselves enough as individuals and as a couple that they wouldn’t have been able to give Alex everything he needs and deserves in the emotional sense. I also think however, that with Alex’s age (which I can’t remember if it was said or not, but I know he’s at least over 10, maybe a tween) that he may not end up getting adopted, and while Josh and Colin wouldn’t have been able to provide what he deserved emotionally, his home life at the very least would have been significantly improved. I do love that they still plan on being a part of his life though, so at the very least, he has some adults in his life that he can turn to if he needs it who still love him, even if it’s not like a son. The fact of how shy Alex was at the beginning and being comfortable enough by the end to even ask them if they would foster him, says a lot about their moral character though, and I love it! ⚠️

The book was very emotional and heartwarming, Colin, Josh and their best friends decided to organize a summer camp for LGBTQ youth and as you can imagine it was really eventful. My favorite moment was the theatre play, it brought tears to my eyes.
If you are a fan of this series you'll adore this book. If you haven't read about Josh and Colin yet I highly recommend their books.
Fantastic book!!

The campers don't always get along, as one would expect from a group of young men their age and that causes a serious incident that also provides a learning opportunity when the Pride campers play a baseball game against another group who have some homophobic beliefs that need a good, hard look. The fact that everyone in this book is a decent person with a good heart and is willing to do some self examination makes for an inspiring read.
One camper in particular provides an opportunity to see both Josh as a therapist and Colin's intuitive ability to use sports as a healing force. I sometimes get into the habit of thinking of Colin as the big, strong, protector - which he is, but he's so much more than that. His work here using a game of catch is brilliant. His ability to read body language and hear all the words that aren't said took my breath away. What is even more wonderful is we get to see this scene through Josh's eyes and his pride and love for Colin glows. The teenager here is also the catalyst for a talk in camp that will surprise those who assume Colin and Josh must know everything about each other by now and who may feel they as readers know everything about Colin and Josh as well. Trust me, there are some surprises here.
For the detail lovers, there's lots to enjoy as Josh, Colin, David, Nate, Trent and Jeff plan the details of the camp and deal with its day to day operation. This is a summer camp story and a Pride story not to be missed.
Walker Williams continues to bring these characters to life for us to enjoy.
A summer full of surprises
