As a young soccer player, reading Beyond Toughness really opened my eyes to the mental side of sports. Learning about the concept of flow was so interesting and intriguing, it’s a state where everything feels natural, focused, and effortless. Learning about this made me realise that I can actually train myself to reach that state during games, and it’s completely changed the way I step onto the field. The book also gave me a clear way to bring together things like breathing, managing my emotions, and building resilience. The book was very well written and provided the sports science influence with a holistic approach. Providing practical tools that have actually helped me stay calm in times of stress.
