Lady Anne Glenshaw, the only daughter of an English Duke, a devout Episcopalian Vicar, does not believe in marriage or everlasting love, until she meets Andre Arnaut, a handsome, young and energetic French Count who is a Catholic. In love for the first time in her life, she and Andre are married in England, and quickly move to France, where for a time, she is blissfully happy. But then, things begin to change. Disillusioned for many reasons, her heart broken beyond repair, she withdraws into herself. She will not even look at her own baby. Her church and her belief in God all play a vital role in her recovery.
