Remarkable life
This is an overdue reevaluation of Butler’s life. His views on black rights, immigrants and mill workers were remarkably modern for the time. Well written and told.

Much Needed Reexamination of Benjamin Butler
This was a much needed reexamination of Benjamin Butler who was remarkably egalitarian for his time and should be remembered more fondly for his views on workers rights, Black civil rights, and women’s rights.
