Benediction is a blessing. Namely, it is a spoken or recited sacred sign that is meant to reassure believers in their joy and commitment to God. As we receive a benediction or offer one for others, we encourage support, assurance, and faith in God who created us and sustains us through all moments of the day.
We are called during this Advent season to offer blessing, to receive blessing, and especially to acknowledge the blessings of each day.
The benediction of the Advent season is to notice the unnoticed, to wait in hopeful expectation and grateful contemplation for the coming of the Lord, and the revelation of his presence in each moment of our lives.
Benediction is for you this Advent. It offers reflections for each day so you may be invited to become more thoughtful, prayerful, and aware of the special blessings of this season.
At the end of each day's reflection, a page is offered for your to make notes, pose questions, cite a line of scripture, or contemplate the activity of the day. Be gentle with yourself. Take time. Each reflection presents a doorway that opens to an unknown horizon.
