"Why, because it's honest? I never ask you questions like this." Silence, as Alex Gantry waited. This wasn't the first time Brian had come home from one of his many business trips thinking he had the right of interrogation if Alex wan't waiting by the door for him.

Alex had to get away, far away. She needed a radical change, and she had no intention of telling Brian Marks what she was thinking, and where it was propelling her to go.

Enter Washington, D.C., known as the Beltway. Alex starts over with a new business partnership with her best friend. Alex is introduced to a hot shot environmental entrepreneur, T.J. Gale, who is in the process of divorcing his controlling wife. But the introduction turns into verbal jousting.

What begins as tension develops into a connection.

Brian Marks will not allow it, and neither will T.J.'s wife. How will they stop Alex and T.J. from becoming closer?
