Our son is a first generation medical student in our family and is currently in his first year of surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati. As his parents we have had no framework to understand what it is he is experiencing as a surgical resident, being that he is the first to pursue a medical career in our family.
Dr Garri's story, BECOMING A SURGEON is extremely enlightening to us and has given us context where there has been none, and a lens with which to view what our son is similarly going through relative to Dr. Gari's story . We are enjoying it very much! And now have a sense of what it is that is challenging him! Because it truly has been tough !! Now we feel better equipped in our understanding of what his challenges are and how to better encourage and support to him.
