What they have in common is that they've created personal rituals to summon their own power in a world that would prefer them powerless. Here, they share the rituals they use to resist self-doubt, grief, and depression in the face of sexism, slut shaming, racism, patriarchy, and other systems of oppression.

A Series of Stories

This is a difficult title to review because it isn't 100% cohesive. Overall, I enjoyed the book. There were some essays that I enjoyed over others and some that I skipped altogether. I would have liked to have heard the essays read by their authors - I feel like that would have given this more of a connected feel.

Well rounded collection of essays

A true snap shot of 2017 and of being feminine in America. Lots of references to Trump and the rise of nazism in the US, many stories contained stories of over coming sexual assault. A solid coming of age book.

Feel empowered in your essence

This book of essays has given me so many different perspectives and ways of being. It has helped me find my own power and own rituals in a world that tries to beigeify everything. Amazing writers and glad to hear their voices.

everything I was looking for

this book is made up of multiple essays from marginalized people from different backgrounds. it gives the audience a practical way to engrain magic into our modern life through our mundane and everyday routines and rituals. I love that this book is more than just "light a candle and meditate"

Lovely radical witchy goodness

Stories that felt like sisters, stories that felt like elders, and stories that taught me things I didn't know I needed to know. Highly recommended for all radical queers and witchy folks of all abilities and cultures.

Inspiring

I found this to be highly inspiring and uplifting. It helped me to realize that I am not alone.

Not very dangerous. But always valuable to read other’s experiences

Overall, I think “Becoming Dangerous” was not a very accurate title.

I was maybe expecting a bit more radical, a bit more threatening to systems of power, maybe folks a bit farther on their own journeys/medicine paths.

I’m deep in queer magic & spiritual communities that are very radical & this feels very entry level, which makes for very un-dangerous content, mostly, at least personally.

I respect the lived experiences of the writers.
I enjoyed a few of the pieces.
But the rest felt like stories I’ve heard versions of directly from friends so many times, that they didn’t make a big impression on me.

I think I’m not the right audience. Maybe this is for folks who aren’t exposed to much difference / diversity in their everyday lives? Or who haven’t done real medicine path / magical work?
