Resumen del Editor

In 1989, at the tender age of 12 years old, Ms. Meadows awoke from a coma to find herself suddenly struck blind and severely brain injured. This greatly complicated her young life.

When she was yet a minor child, her mother sued the doctor who caused this tragedy. This ultimately made Ms. Meadows' situation more desperate than ever.

After the settlement; Ms. Meadows' parents continued to deny her treatment for her injuries. As a result, her life went off the rails in a huge way.

As Ms. Meadows grew up and began to become her own person, her parents dragged her into court, stripping her of her constitutional rights in an effort to protect the money they sued for.

Their complete lack of concern for their daughter’s humanity wound up driving an insurmountable wedge between Ms. Meadows and her four parents.

This book is Ms. Meadows' firsthand account of how she and her family were forced to fight a corrupt legal system in the state of Montana for many years in order to achieve their escape from the abusive guardianship her parents locked her down under when she was young.

Ms. Meadows wishes to teach the world that sometimes in life, blindness is quite literally in the eye of the beholder.

Essentially, you’re only as blind as you believe yourself to be.

Ms. Meadows has learned that it is precisely because she is blind that she is perfect to walk this path she has been assigned.

Because You're Blind was a phenomenal trauma.

In Because You're Blind, the author Becca S. Meadows takes the reader and explains the struggles she went through to resolve her trauma and abusive guardianship. The author wanted to convey her message and explain how she was stripped out from practicing her legal rights as an individual living with a second disability. What stood out to me was the fact that the author was able to resolve her abusive guardianship and sue the doctor. I liked how the author took the reader and explained how she went through her unknown daily struggles because she didn't know that the traumatic brain injury was there. It is encouraging seeing that she was able to go through therapy and go through what she went through and realize that she can overcome trauma. I feel as if this situation is a catch-22 with a life long impact with no resolution. This story was a great success and a great read.

Opened my eyes

This shouldn’t happen to anyone. What happened to Rebecca should not happen to anyone. I pray she can find peace in her life now that she’s in control of it.

Because I’m Blind too!

Felt emotionally charged for Becca! The depiction of her relationships with her family was so alarming! No one of any ability should ever have to suffer that way! TBI story was very relatable for me, thank you for putting that into words! Enlightened by the necessities of life, Becca you are a strong, inspirational woman!

literally un-believable

this is poorly written and full of inaccuracies. I know it is inaccurate because I was there for most of it
