Beast

Mars, the home of monsters. Just as humans thought it would be, Mars is a red, dry rocky landscape. Thanks to terraforming, its air is almost breathable. But terror lurks in the Martian shadows—and just like Earth, it’s a world run by frightened politicians. On the cusp of the twenty-third century, a terraformed Mars is home to fifty thousand human beings, including alleged crime lord and cold-blooded killer, Giuseppe “the Beast” Fontaine and his large family. While starships from Earth cross the heavens using cold-sleep technology, on the red planet, someone, or something, is killing the Fontaine children and leaving the grisly remains to be found by the Beast. He turns to the unlikeliest of sources for help. Solomon Draxx is an oddity in the jaded annals of his profession: a detective and occasional bodyguard with strict moral standards. A former Marine with no recollection of his childhood, Solomon is summoned to Mars, where he discovers that monsters roam the deserts of Mars… and beyond.
