Remarkable review of foreign affairs

Wow! What a thought provoking assessment of our place in the world. A must read!

Epic

Seldom has a senior participant written such an epic account of an era . McMaster writes from the viewpoint of a West Point graduate whose thesis was a definitive account of the Johnson McNamara era disasters that left so many dead and US Foreign Policy in the gutter.

In Battlegrounds McMaster looks at the current world , including his role in many events. A surgical assessment of the world situation, America's challenges, blunders and opportunities .

Hopefully Biden will put party differences aside (McMaster was far from a partisan under Trump) and bring McMaster back into policy making and implementing positions .

Some of the success and quality of the book reflects the large and talented team McMaster and the Hoover Institute put on the project including former national security advisor Condi Rice and others.

A must read for anyone wanting a graduate level briefing on challenges and opportunities facing the US in the current environment along with assessments of our goals and opportunities.

Inspiring

This Book showed me that there are still people out there who believe in a Free and open Society and are willing to defend it.

Incredibly informative

His description of strategic narcissism and how it’s held back America on the world stage was enlightening, his recounting of details historical details and their present effects in this light is as well. Must read for anyone working in or has an interest in current geo politics.

Good read, professionally done

A good perspective, if you can get over the author’s incredibly generous self appraisals.

Excellent book. A must read to understand the world today. Especially on the recent events.

Great Assessment

I was a bit skeptical when I downloaded this book. However, I found the book to be engaging and well thought out. I did not agree with every point, but I think the overall assessment were very good. We live in a very complex world and attempting to put your arms around it is a challenge- well done! I highly recommend this book as part of comprehensive study program for anyone entering the international political arena.

Identifying the History of the Past That Brought the U.S. to Today.

Very thorough articulation of the historical events, good and bad, that has contributed to the US position in the world todo. As such it is a long book.

An education for all Americans

An excellent and objective perspective on America, our place in the world, and how to impact the world utilizing the lessons of history.

I don’t agree with all of McMaster’s positions and ideas, though I do agree with most. I throughly enjoyed learning from his expertise.

I come away from listening to Battlegrounds with a better understanding of military and diplomatic strategy.
