The novel Bad Associations Spoil Useful Habits documents the mental distress of two PIMO Jehovah’s Witnesses, Horace Brewer and Taze Felix, as they naively navigate the confusing and unfamiliar world outside of The Watchtower organization. It highlights their desperate search for freedom and mental wellbeing amidst the highly restrictive and mentally exhausting world of The Watchtower. In their attempt to find authentic friendship and unconditional love, they innocently associate with several equally mentally exhausted “worldly” people. The “worldly” characters, Denny Wister, Akari Zak, and Rachel Synog also aim for their own emotional peace. All of these characters converge in a collective quest for mental wellbeing in this eccentric, humorous, and poignant novel: Bad Associations Spoil Useful Habits!

As an ExJw myself, found odd:/

The narrator was too robotic for me to engage. As an ExJw in association with many other ExJws, the story line seemed very discombobulated and far fetched. If gross effect was intended, it was achieved, which in my opinion detracted from any sense of validity in the story. I read through hoping to find something real and interesting, but I did not.
However, I am open to see if there is anyone who would be willing to help me see any points I may have missed.
