“Who was she?”

Those were the first words spoken by Mike Lowell after the fourth time he was revived in the emergency room.

The Dayton, Ohio Police Sergeant had been rendered near death by the massive overdose of the drug fentanyl ingested in an attempt to rescue a woman from a car that had begun to burn.

Now he was left with the haunting mystery of the face of an elderly woman he was still seeing upon the moment of his resuscitation, the pleading distressed face from another realm that was silently imploring him to go back.

To go back among the living, although he wanted to remain on the other side where he had also encountered a set of hands attached to wounded wrists.

He could remember nothing more as he struggled through a long and slow recovery, until he agreed to undergo hypnosis to see if he could remember any more about his brief venture to the other side.
