The experience of married life can range from living happily ever after, to the monster of irreconcilable differences. To those who lived happily after the wedding, sometimes they wonder how they managed to cross the bridge of integration to settle down to a relationship of love and peace. To those who had to face irreconcilable differences the wonder is always, “what went wrong? How did the promise of a great future together fizzle out into this present nightmare?” The Bible has two key words that determine outcome. The first is love and the second is submission. In an earlier work, You May Kiss the Bride, it is stated that there are three things we are in search of when choosing a life-partner: There is the love of my life – someone they are deeply attracted to. There is the love for life – someone who will be with them till the end of their journey together. The third is the destiny partner – someone with whom they will walk the path of God’s will and so fulfill their destiny together. They envisage to be destiny helper to each other in many different ways. The question is, do those who succeed stumble at it or do we have principles that guide us through the tussle of integration to the bliss of harmony, love and peace? Between Love and Submission is about how to get through the tussle of integration and quickly settle down to a life of love, peace and harmony. Those beginning the journey of married life will find this book a great help in reducing the time spent in this tussle that goes with blending two persons from different backgrounds into a couple married for love and for life. Those already on the journey but sense that the relationship is not heading in the direction of love, peace and harmony may find principles here that can assist them to walk the path of a badly needed course correction. No matter where you are on the journey of life as a married couple, this book may serve to articulate what you did right for those who found love, joy and peace. For those on the road to irreconcilable differences, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will show you what to do to turn the relationship around to the glory of God. And for those who have found their tussle endless with much unhappiness and misery, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will help you see that there is a way to put an end to a life of endless tussle and settle down to love, joy, peace and harmony in your marriage.
