AI narration ruins the story

I work with AI daily and find it extremely useful, but it’s nowhere near ready to replace human narration! There was a decent amount of emotion in the voice, but the AI frequently got the intonation or emphasis so wrong that it pulled me out of the story. It also mispronounced a surprising number of words. I expected AI to be much better at using different voices for each character, but nope.

So, what about the book? It was ok. It took much too long setting up the main character’s back story, to the point that I had to reread the description to be sure this wasn’t just a coming of age story without paranormal elements. I love long books, but I think this story might be better as an abridged audiobook. And a real person narrator would help too.
