What do a neuron and a galaxy have in common? For centuries, the idea that human beings reflect the universe belonged to mysticism. In 2020, two scientists —an astrophysicist and a neurosurgeon— turned it into a measurable problem: they quantitatively compared the brain's neural network with the cosmic web of dark-matter filaments, and found strikingly similar structural patterns, despite being separated by 27 orders of magnitude.

This book follows that evidence chapter by chapter, with no shortcuts and no cheap mysticism: complex network geometry, self-organized criticality, Bohm and Pribram's controversial holographic theory, the parallel between dark matter and glial cells, and the philosophical implications —panpsychism, integrated information theory— that arise when physics and neuroscience begin asking the same questions.

An essay that doesn't promise the brain "is" a miniature universe, but instead shows, with rigor and with its limits made explicit, why both share a single anatomy.
