Suspicious fire destroys Newcastle school hall

A major fire has destroyed a two-storey multi-purpose building at Glendale Technology High School in Newcastle, including the school hall, canteen and student wellbeing hub. More than 20 fire trucks responded to the blaze which broke out around 1am, with police now investigating the incident as potentially suspicious. The school is working to ensure students can return for Term 2 on Wednesday, with no classrooms damaged in the fire.
