Hi. Jay Murdock here. Private Investigator, Atlanta, Georgia, owner of a coffee maker that may have achieved sentience. I took a case I probably shouldn't have — missing dancer, Russian mob boss lurking in the background, an AI that knows way too much about everyone's coffee habits. Standard stuff, really. Except for one small complication.
I have a guy living in my head.


Other Jay here. I'm the competent one. I tried to stop him from taking this case. I said: walk away. I said: some doors stay closed for a reason. I said: that's Viktor Volkov in the background of that photo, you catastrophic idiot, and Viktor Volkov leaves bodies under coffee shops.
He took the case anyway. Out of spite. He does everything out of spite, including the cream and sugar.


Back to me. So now we've got a staged apartment that nobody actually lived in, a church girl with lockpick instincts, an assistant who commits origami on rent notices, and a sticky note on a laptop that just says WATCHING.
Great case. Really loving it. Totally fine.


It's not fine. I have memories he doesn't. I remember Sofia. I remember Brighton Beach. I remember exactly why this is going to end badly.
He won't listen. He never listens.
I live in his head and somehow I'm the one suffering.
