He has been continuing their work for 249 years without knowing it, and the Arbiters just made sure he can't hold the pen the same way again. Kalixo is running out of political rooms — the dominant faction has taken the Assembly by coup, and forty years of network are narrowing to a single play. Trystane has read the treaty's deepest text and understood what it always said: the heir persists with the Witness through discontinuity. He intends to make that literal, whatever it costs him.
