Daily Devotions: Eternity - April 17, 2026

Luke 20:34–38 (ESV) - “And Jesus said to them, ‘The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.’” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches about the reality of eternity and what God is like. He explains that life does not end at death, every person continues to exist, because God is the God of the living, not the dead. Jesus makes it clear that those who belong to Him are raised to new life, where death no longer has power. Pastor Sumrall addresses the false idea that life simply ends when we die, emphasizing instead that every person is immortal, having a beginning but no end. He reminds us that eternity is real, and our choices in this life determine where we will spend it.
