1a/Treadmill Ram Tai Chi (TRTC) and Dolphin Instant Tai Chi (DITC) complement each other. 2/Human beings are the only creatures in this world that can keep an upright posture most of the time without straining the body excessively. In the lengthy process of evolution our ancestors gradually achieved this upright posture partly through strengthening the involuntary postural reflex. 2a/ When the lower abdominal group of muscles, called the Dantian in Tai Chi is strengthened in abdominal Dantian breathing this additional muscular support to uphold the body and the increased negative pressure of the abdominal cavity help strengthen the postural reflex to a level so strong that some accomplished practitioners feel that the umbilicus or the abdominal part below the umbilicus seems to be sticking towards the spine. They call this “氣貼背Qi Tie Bei”. TRTC is designed to develop and to strengthen this phenomenon. 3/There are easier ways and more efficient methods to obtain these health enhancement “side effects” of Tai Chi than the hard to memorize 108 slow movements. 3a/From my own experiences breathing should be practiced with some simple and rhythmic movements and its improved breathing mode can enhance the dong gong, which means the moving qi gong part of Integrative Mind Body Training (IMBT), that combines dong gong and jing gong (the meditation part of IMBT). 4/ Master Nan taught us how to enter the state of Chan (Zen in Japanese) ding when you combine walking with the mental practice of Chan (the Chinese term is called行香Xíng xiāng; Xíng means to walk and xiāng means incense and it is the same as Chan walking.): 4a/According to Master Huai-jin Nan, in order to practice meditation with good results you have to reach and state in the Ding 定 mental condition in 4 principal daily activities, called四威儀 Sì wēi yí, the four dignified modes of daily activities i.e. during walking, standing, sitting and when resting in a lying down posture. 5/I have summarized and added my interpretations of Master Nan's 行香Xíng xiāng instructions as followed (行Xíng means to walk and 香xiāng literally means incense and it has become a symbol of Chan and worship.) Master Nan's 行香Xíng xiāng instructions are actually the principles of tai chi applied into the act of walking, a form of repetitive exercise: 5a/All the 8 requirements of tai chi are: 八式Bā shì 5b/My interpretations of Master Nan’s “Chan walking to become disease free”: 5c/By the way the 256 years old man in the picture below practiced Bagua zhang - 八卦掌 as a form of dong gong. 6/TRTC can help you acquire the abdominal Dantian for abdominal breathing. 6a/I have two movies demonstrating the correct pronunciations of the six sounds and how to sing them in rhythm: 6b/The following link takes you to the movie that shows you the “The Dantian training secret in the old Cantonese opera tradition by Dr. George Ho” 6c/Using the treadmill as the push hand partner for the legs so that you can activate the ring of muscles below the umbilicus 6d/Mental and physical fitness could be attained concurrently. 6e/Combining mental devices to calm the mind in “Focus walking” on a Slope 7/The inherent pressure equalization nature of the three body cavities: 7a/The complex ring of muscles around the throat (at the level of the first cervical vertebra) adds to the supporting forces of the skull. 8/The various training methods regarding the feet: 9/My explanation for this kind of footwork training: 10/The invisible muscle chain linking up the body muscles like a snake: 11/ The following internet-link shows the use of an arched sole shoe to force the body to connect the whole body’s muscles from top to bottom to adjust constantly to this instability. ...
