75-year-old Gus MacDonald is a man of simple faith, stubborn habits, and a heart etched with the memories of his late wife, Mary. After twelve years of providing dedicated care for Mary during her illness, Gus finds himself adrift in a quiet Midwest town, his days measured by the morning commodity reports and the solitary ritual of waxing his 1958 Chevy pickup.

When a chance encounter at the post office leads him to an opening for a "house mom" at the University’s Zeta Tau Epsilon sorority, Gus decides it’s time for a change—one that his bewildered friends at the local cafe think is a birthday joke.

Trading his quiet porch for a house of forty-one energetic college women, Gus brings a firm hand and an old-school perspective to a world of "yuppie" attire, gluten-free confusion, and modern chaos. As the "House Dad," he quickly learns that his new duties involve more than just cooking spaghetti and fixing clogged toilets; he must navigate the complexities of campus life, from protecting his "girls" from predatory frat boys to enforcing a strict 11 p.m. curfew.

Through shared meals, Sunday rituals, and a few "visual demonstrations" with his trusty Remington shotgun, Gus begins to bridge the generational gap. In the process, he discovers that while he is teaching these young women about respect and accountability, they are giving him exactly what he needs: a reason to get up in the morning and a new family to call his own.
