Ocean Power Technologies deploys first PowerBuoy System for U.S. Homeland Security

Ocean Power Technologies CEO Philipp Stratmann joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the successful deployment of the first PowerBuoy® system under its previously announced contract with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Stratmann explained that the system has been deployed off the coast of California to support maritime domain awareness operations for the U.S. Coast Guard, marking a key operational milestone as the company transitions its autonomous offshore infrastructure into active mission support. The PowerBuoy® platform is designed to deliver persistent offshore power, communications, and sensor integration, enabling long-endurance maritime surveillance and security operations. Operating autonomously for extended periods, the system supports continuous monitoring of maritime environments.
