On Sunday afternoon, Douglas County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call near 103rd Street and Blair High Road in northwest Omaha. The first deputy on scene was shot in the arm by suspect Brian Huggins, 39, who then retreated into the apartment. Huggins was later found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the hallway. The deputy underwent surgery and is in stable condition. First Alert 6 reports the investigation is ongoing.
Earlier in the week, Omaha police sought public help identifying a man who allegedly stole a car from a high school parking lot. KETV describes the suspect as a repeat felony theft offender; no arrests reported, case under investigation.
