There are certainly common experiences that we are all guaranteed to walk through in life. One we do not choose, but somehow finds all of us is suffering. If life is consistent about one thing, it’s delivering hard circumstances for us to walk through. The prevailing question, especially as disciples of Jesus, is, “Where is God in suffering?” In addition, a series of questions often arises as we face adversity: Why does God allow this? Why am I going through it? What am I supposed to do with suffering? Is this part of God’s plan for me? There are thousands of others, but no matter the question, when we think of suffering, humanity, and God’s involvement, we are drawn to the book of Job. For the next few weeks, we will look at how God orchestrates every detail of our lives for our good as we read through the book of Job together. Through suffering, we are being prepared for transformation—if our minds become renewed.
