Dr. Danielle Madril, Chief Medical Officer of United Healthcare of Florida –explains the role of doulas in providing education and support for parents-to-be before and after baby delivery. It is a complimentary role to a midwife, but not the same thing, and can be a beneficial part of the mother's medical team. Dr. Madril cites statistics of reduced delivery complications, and decreased incidents & serverity of post-partum depression and parental anxiety.
