The Freelands Chapter 1

In which Felix Freeland, an author of refined tastes and critical mind, traverses a bustling Mayday Oxford Street, reflecting on the mediocrity he perceives around him and the social ills afflicting the nation. He proceeds to join his brothers John and Stanley, men of government and industry respectively, for a meeting that presages their shared concern over the state of the country and the restlessness stirring in their family’s affairs.
