Another crazy week in video games! An Xbox Games Showcase is now locked in, and FanFests make a triumphant return with a worldwide tour. We chat through it all in the DayOne Show Episode 308.
Before we dig into the new, we of course have to touch on all the fantastic video games we've been playing! I reviewed Darwin's Paradox!, a new puzzle platformer from ZDT Studios and Konami. I've also been checking out smaller title like Raccoin and Gunboat God and I'm previewing Forza Horizon 6 - more on that next week!
Nick played and reviewed Super Meat Boy 3D, which has been a fun and incredibly frustrating time. Jesse reviewed and was subsequently delighted by the fantastic metroidvania Grime II, which is available now if you want to check it out.
We also want to extend a big thank you to the community and everyone that joined us for our DayOne Spring Subathon, which saw us make a significant dent in our fundraising goals for the year, and a ton of new members via our new site memberships. You guys rock!
In news, it's been a very Xbox focused week, with the Xbox Games Showcase announced and a Gears of War: E-Day Direct attached for good measure. In welcome news, Xbox FanFest is coming back, and even better is going on a world tour that sees the event expand to multiple locations this year. Hell, there's even an Xbox/Fanta collab this year.
In other news, State of Decay 3 made a surprise Alpha announcement, and revealed new details in a YouTube interview. EIDOS Montreal suffered layoffs again, and the US Patent office rejected Nintendo's claim on 'summoning a character and letting it fight for you.' SHIFTUP acquired UNBOUND, Shinji Mikami’s new studio and Jason Blundell revealed his third new studio after Sony closed his last one. Oh, and speaking of Sony, they acquired a new 'Machine-Learning' outfit 'Cinermsive Labs'.
All this and more this week, alongside your community questions, so jump in!
