With so many writing implement choices...the humble pencil often has a tendency to be overlooked. Pencils are one of the first writing tools and they are known to have originated in the 16th century when graphite was discovered in Keswick, England. Sketching in pencil is an incredibly expressive, therapeutic and fun activity. Whether you're an experienced illustrator or think you don't have a single creative bone in your body, take five minutes to have a quick doodling session and see where that imagination can take you. During its lifetime, a typical pencil can write approximately 45,000 words and draw a line up to 35 miles long.A typical pencil can be sharpened around 17 times before it is too short to be used. You can find several videos online to watch how pencils are made.
