A Northern California killing inside a mother-in-law housing unit is under investigation as prosecutors say a man armed with a hatchet targeted his victim in a rare homicide in Lafayette.

A Florida brother and sister are now under federal indictment after prosecutors say one planted an improvised explosive device at MacDill Air Force Base and both then fled the country.
