Let's start up north in Sonoma and Marin County where things are looking pretty solid. Friday, you're looking at six to ten feet on the northwest facing beaches, with the southwest breaks running three to six feet. It'll be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-50s to low 80s depending on where you are. Winds will be light out of the northwest at 4 to 6 miles per hour, so conditions should stay fairly clean. Saturday, the swell drops slightly to six to nine feet on the northwest exposures, while south facing breaks shrink to two to four feet. Expect partly cloudy skies and similar light winds.
San Francisco and San Mateo County is where you'll find some of the best waves this weekend. Friday morning, northwest facing beaches are serving up six to nine feet with south facing spots in the three to five foot range. Water temperature is holding around 53 degrees. It'll be mostly cloudy with light north winds becoming gentle at six miles per hour. Temperatures will range from the mid-50s to low 80s. Saturday looks slightly smaller with west facing beaches offering five to eight feet and south facing breaks at two to four feet. The wind shifts to a light southwest direction.
Down in Santa Cruz County, Friday brings five to eight feet to the northwest facing beaches with three to five foot waves on the southwest breaks. Water temperatures sit around 54 degrees with partly cloudy conditions. North winds stay light at four to six miles per hour and highs reach the upper 50s to low 80s. Saturday, you're looking at a general four to seven foot swell across the area with partly cloudy skies and similar light winds out of the north.
Finally, down south in Monterey Bay and Big Sur, Friday's swell is a bit more mellow at three to six feet. Water temperature is warmer here, ranging from 56 to 57 degrees. Expect partly cloudy skies with light northwest winds and highs in the low to mid-80s. Saturday dips to three to five feet with partly cloudy conditions continuing and light northeast winds.
Across all zones, there's no thunderstorm activity expected either day. Tidal ranges look pretty standard with some nice low tides in the early afternoon. So whether you're heading out Friday or Saturday, you've got favorable conditions ahead. Stay safe out there and check with your local authorities regarding any potential beach closures. Enjoy the waves.
