Sure, it was impossible for the government or voters in 2023 to know a future US president and his mate would start a war that lead to the fastest petrol price increase in decades - but alternative transport options that would be handy now were gutted already because of other reasons they were being funded in the first place and the coalition doesn’t like “woke".
