Tropical Cyclone Narelle intensifies towards Queensland

Tropical Cyclone Narelle is developing offshore in Far North Queensland and is forecast to intensify to a Category 4 system before making landfall between Lockhart River and Port Douglas on Friday morning. The cyclone is expected to bring wind gusts over 225 km/h in its core, heavy rainfall, flash flooding and significant storm surge to the region. After crossing the Queensland coast, Narelle is predicted to redevelop over the Gulf of Carpentaria, cross the Top End, and potentially track across to Western Australia by late next week.
