The Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania presents Vladimir Milošević, virtuoso pianist, and multiple award-winning faculty member of the University of the Arts in Belgrade, Serbia on Sunday March 22nd at 3:00pm, at the Kresge Theater at CMU. Vladimir spoke with Jim Cunningham about his program.
Vladimir plans to play a demanding concert featuring Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker arranged by Mikhail Pletnev, Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Ballet, Stravinsky's Firebird, and Ravel's La Valse. He remembers his legendary piano teacher Lazar Berman and his early years from Leskovac, Serbia. Vladimir shared the cultural overview of Belgrade and finds it extraordinary and rich. He has visited Pittsburgh once before at Duquesne University and hopes to explore more of the deep Serbian cultural life in Pittsburgh, which dates back to the 1880's. Vladimir has recorded a disk of Serbian music by Ivan Jevtić and recommends his favorite Serbian composers.
Don't miss your chance to hear Vladimir Milošević play Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, and Ravel on Sunday, March 22nd at 3:00pm at CMU's Kresge Theater. Tickets are available on the Steinway Society's website.
