A powerful low pressure system is tracking towards southeast Queensland, placing nearly 90% of the state under flood watch. North Queensland has already experienced over 500 millimetres of rainfall, with 34 people rescued from a stranded tour bus in Miriam Vale. In the Northern Territory, the town of Katherine faces a major flood warning with river levels expected to reach their highest in 20 years, while 400 people have been evacuated from Palumpa and Daly River communities.
