לפי ערך גודל הירידה שמסופר עלי' בחלק הראשון של פ' כי תשא [חטא העגל], שהיא ירידה שאין כמוה, ניתן להעריך את גודל העלי' שלאחרי' שמסופר עלי' לאח"ז בשיעורים דימים אלו, שהיא עלי' שאין כמוה, ובאמת הטעם למה "הרשה" הקב"ה שתהי' ירידה כזאת הוא כי דוקא עי"ז באים בנ"י לעלי' הכי גדולה (כמבואר בענין "נורא עלילה על בני אדם"), וכפי שיהי' בקרוב ממש ע"י משיח צדקנו, ולכן השם של כל הפרשה - כולל הענינים הבלתי רצויים שבה - הוא "כי תשא"; בפ' כי תשא מדובר הן ע"ד לוחות הראשונות והן ע"ד לוחות האחרונות, ויש בזה מה שאין בזה, ויש דוגמתם בכאו"א, ועוד.

Synopsis

From the magnitude of the unparalleled descent described in rishon of parashas Ki Sisa (the sin of the golden calf), we can appreciate the greatness of the subsequent ascent, which is also unparalleled. And this ascent is the only reason Hashem allowed such a descent to take place in the first place (as explained regarding the verse “an awesome pretext upon the sons of man”), and the same applies to the ascent that will take place very soon with the coming of Moshiach. This is why the entire parshah, including the undesirable part, is called Ki Sisa (“When you lift up…”). Parashas Ki Sisa discusses both the first and second Luchos, each of which has an advantage over the other, and each of which is reflected within every Jew.
