Becoming Who We Are Meant To Be
“Now the LORD said to Abram, ‘Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.’” — Genesis 12:1
Sometimes becoming who we are meant to be
requires leaving what has always felt comfortable.
God did not give Abram and Sarai a full explanation.
There was no outline.
No step-by-step instructions.
Only a call.
Leave your country.
Leave your kindred.
Leave your father’s house.
Go.
This was not a declaration that something was wrong with where they had been.
It was not a judgment on those who would remain.
They were not called to what Abram and Sarai were called to.
And that is always the tension.
Not everyone is called to the same road.
Not everyone is invited into the same season.
The call of God does not usually come with a full itinerary.
There is no map.
Only a promise.
Abram and Sarai did not know the destination.
They did not know the timing.
They did not know the details.
They trusted.
And sometimes that is what faith looks like —
not having all the answers,
but trusting enough to begin.
What has always felt comfortable
may not be where we are meant to stay.
The question is not whether the familiar is good or bad.
The question is whether we are willing
to answer the call
when it comes.
