What are U.S. border officers really looking for when you cross the border?

In recent months, Canadians have reported increased scrutiny at the border: additional questions about the purpose of travel, requests for documentation, even fingerprinting. Immigration lawyers say the key to avoiding problems is preparation, knowing exactly what you’re allowed to do as a visitor, and having documents ready to prove your ties to Canada.
