Evening Prayer: A Light That Rests in Love

God of light and mercy,

as this day comes to a close,

we release our striving to be seen,

admired, or approved.

If we have done good today,

let it be enough that it was rooted in love.

If our motives were mixed,

meet us with grace, not shame.

Settle our hearts back into what matters most—

love of you,

love of ourselves with honesty and care,

and love of our neighbors as ourselves.

Where our actions created space for others to thrive,

we give thanks.

Where we missed an opportunity to reflect your goodness,

we trust your mercy to keep working.

As we rest tonight,

quiet the noise of comparison and performance.

Remind us that your kingdom does not depend

on our recognition,

but on your faithfulness already at work in the world.

Shape us, even in our sleep,

into people whose lives point beyond themselves—

toward hope,

toward healing,

and toward a better way of living together.

We rest in your love,

trusting that what was begun in faith

will continue to unfold in grace.

Amen.
