Chinese authorities are travelling to Brisbane to assist in investigating the August 2024 attack where a 33-year-old Chinese national threw scalding coffee on nine-month-old baby Luca at Stones Corner before fleeing to China. China has extraterritorial jurisdiction, allowing prosecution of Chinese nationals who commit crimes overseas. The baby has required extensive ongoing surgery following the attack.
